Tickets are ON SALE NOW.

Women's Empowerment is Radio One Raleigh's largest and most anticipated event. Each year, thousands of African American women (and men) come to Women's Empowerment for an entire day of empowerment. I must say I have never gone, but everyone that I know has attended has always spoken very highly of this event. Created in 1994, in honor of Women's History Month, Women's Empowerment was designed to better African American women by addressing issues that impact our "health, hearts and pocketbooks." If you are in the area you can come and be educated and entertained as well as support the vendors that will be there.

Women's Empowerment Expo is brought to you each year by Radio One Raleigh. Keep your radio tuned to K97.5, The Light 103.9 or Foxy 107.1/104.3 for updates and more information about Women's Empowerment Expo 2011.

Ah! The Compulsion For Food...
By Beiker Dasilva

Suddenly, without hunger, one feels an uncontrollable urge and
eat a large meal in a short period of time. It makes you very
quickly, almost without chewing, mostly in secret and is making
sense of lack of control over eating and how much. Usually does
until you feel engorged, tired or the sudden presence of another
person. Then you feel guilty, remorseful, anxious and
self-confidence.

This episode is called, badly translated, "cravings." If it
occurs twice a week at least six months and, represents the
"Binge Eating Disorder" or "binge eating", popularly, Binge
Eating.

Occurs 25 to 56% of dieters to lose weight. Although the
"causes" are little known, are the triggering anxiety and
deprivation of food.

The researchers say there may be several explanations for this.
They argued that these differences may be due to greater woman's
preoccupation with their weight and appearance. The social
pressure to lose weight may lead these people to restrict their
diet to lose weight. As has been noted that this phenomenon was
related to phenomena of "impulsive hunger", this may be an
explanation, they say.

Another explanation could be that women have a different
relationship between mood and desire to eat. However these
relationships are very complex and difficult to understand, warn
experts. In this study, the desire to eat was related to a
"desire" and not a "necessity" which shows the strong influence
of psychological factors in eating habits.

The amount of food eaten varies from person to person. However
there is the presence of a common feeling: the lack of control!
And the compulsion to perceived lack of control is worse than
the absence. A brigadier general, ingested in these conditions
leads to the chocolate bar and a very great suffering. Many
diets end here ... The person may feel shame or inhibition to
tell the doctor, who, in the absence of weight loss, could
"squeeze" more diet and the effects are precisely worsen,
causing the person to other eating attacks. Very restricted
diets lead to increased incidence.

Compulsive people are more vulnerable to depression, anxiety
and stress. Eat to "remedy" the effects of these negative
feelings. Have difficulty "reading" and identify your emotions,
confusing them with hunger. They are usually unassertive, has
relationship problems and emotional problem-solving.

Treatment involves psychotherapy and eating habits.
Psychotherapy should identify and address factors other off
hunger, leading people to eat. The goal should be to take it to
replace the food in most appropriate and adaptive to their
negative emotions. Bring food to its actual function. Identify
whether the overeating and obesity or overweight has some
function, usually unconscious person's life.

The compulsive should worry about the PROCESS. The weight loss
will come as a result of control "eating attacks" or cravings.
After struggling with compulsive eating disorder for about 10
years I realize that I need professional help to overcome this
type of dysfunction.

I have use a Natural supplement now for about 6 months with
great results, it works by suppressing my appetite by sending a
signal to my brain, telling me that "I'M FULL". Also it reduces
the conversion of starch into sugar that lower my calorie
absorption and aids the digestive system.

A clean digestive system helps me feel great and energize and
most important I no longer feel cravings for any particular
food, sugar or salt.

The Dangers of Wearing Hoop Earrings
and What to Avoid
By Joe Habbit

Hoop earrings are trendy in many countries throughout the
world. They are stylish accessories available in various shapes
and sizes. When choosing to put on the large size hoops, there
are certain safety precautions to consider. Danger to a person's
ears can be caused when wearing big hoop earrings, so there are
a few situations that should be avoided when engaging in certain
activities.

Hair
Wearing the large style hoop earrings with long or medium
length hair has the potential to get tangled up tightly in locks
of hair. If the hair gets wrapped around too tight, it has the
possibility of causing a lot of pain or damage to the earlobe
when the head is turned. To prevent this from happening, hair
should be worn up and kept safely away from the hoops.

Clothing
Some articles of clothing can be a safety hazard while wearing
hoop earrings. Coats and jackets have the potential to get
caught in your earrings. Special attention should be paid when
putting these on and also avoid pulling any clothing over the
head. In addition to clothing, some accessories such as scarves
or purse handles may become hazardous. Scarves can be harmful if
caught in the hoop portion of the earring and may cause an
injury when pulled away from the ear. Purse handles made with
knitted material can easily become snagged when being pulled on
or off of the shoulder.

Children & Pets
Babies often grab and pull on things they think are interesting
or pretty. Even an infant can unintentionally cause damage to
someone's ear by pulling hard on a hoop earring. Issues may take
place when wearing shiny hoops around dogs and cats. Some dogs
like to jump on people and should be a safety concern for anyone
wearing large earrings. Think of the pain if a paw would get
stuck in the hoop of your earring and then the potential damage
that could occur when the paw is yanked away. Cats love to swat
at things that catch their attention. A cat can snag a shiny
hoop end up pulling out the whole earring. Rather than putting
on large or sparkly earrings, a secondary choice should be
considered when spending time around small children or pets.

Activities
Accessorizing with hoops to enhance a personal style is one of
the latest trends. However, certain activities may become
problematic when wearing the larger hoop styles. For instance,
playing in a basketball game while wearing big hoops can end up
in a disaster. In addition to the activities you participate in,
thought should be given to the places you go too. Crowded places
such as night clubs, bars, and concerts should be a cause for
concern. In crammed environments like these, your earring can
get caught on someone nearby.
Hoop earrings can add fashionable style to a person's attire,
however, knowing when to wear them is essential for safety's
sake. It may be wise to think about wearing smaller hoops or any
alternative to the large hoop styles when considering hair,
clothing, small children, and other activities.

I'm glad I am in North Carolina. Everytime I talk to my sister in Connecticut she's telling me they just had another 12 inches of snow!

It was pretty when I was a kid growing up in Connecticut, but I sure don't miss that white stuff!
