There is a known disparity between America's youth, and other industrialized nations in the disciplines of math and science; that divide becomes even wider in the case of minority and economically disadvantaged children. Consider these facts: * Although end-of-grade tests scores have risen for most groups in math since 2005, a gap of almost 30 percentage points exist between white and black students, and a gap of nearly 20 points exists between white students and their Hispanic peers. * High-quality after school and summer programs benefit at-risk students academically and socially. * High poverty districts in our state (N.C.) – those that actually need more money to reach high achievement goals – have begun receiving less. In 1999, high-poverty districts received $337 more per student than districts serving more affluent families, but by 2005, these same districts received an average of $603 less per student than lower-poverty districts. By 2005, per pupil funding in low-minority districts was $663 higher than in high-minority districts.
The Daniel Center for Math and Science provides after school summer/track out teaching and tutoring for at risk children – ages 5-12. As the name suggests, this is an education-based program, which focuses on narrowing the achievement gap in math, science and technology.
Located in the heart of southeast Raleigh, The Daniel Center is a fully functioning, affordable childcare facility. However, The Daniel Center is very different from other childcare centers. It provides a unique education enhancement program that increases student’s classroom performance, as well as seeks to prepare and motivate them to pursue a post-high school education.

Chivalry Returns
“Ladies, if your man doesn’t ‘agree’ with most of what’s in this book…he may need to seek ‘help’ ….and if you don’t feel you are worthy of being treated in the manner defined in this book….you too may need ‘help’’…..
Good Day…Before I even get started, I’d like to explain why I believe, we, as men “owe it to treat her like a Lady…” When God created Man, he gave him the task of ‘taking care of all that He had given domain over.” God shortly, thereafter, decided Man would fare better with a companion, ‘Woman.’ She too, was ‘under man’s domain”. When Eve, approached Adam to ‘bite the fruit’, had Adam been ‘more of a ‘man’, and sweetly, yet firmly ‘reminded’ his Woman that “God had forbidden this”, I think, not only would Eve have complied, her respect for him would have grown , and she would feel ‘comfortable’ knowing ‘her man ‘ knows how to ‘ take charge.’ Therefore, Adam let God, Eve, himself and, “us” down. (Even when God made the ‘discovery’, and asked “what’s going on”, Adam’s response was, “what nature of woman have you given me”? another ‘cop-out’. He should have ‘manned up’, and confessed, he was derelict in his duty to ‘watch over things’. We will never know, but God might just have taken a slightly different approach to delivering His ‘consequence’.
We all now have a chance to do ‘better’ than Adam. “Therefore, at the very least, please, “treat her like a Lady’”
